On snakes

I asked her whether she could recruit Shoosha as a sitter for an Adam-and-Eve scene (as a snake).

My dear friend,

Thank you for such a lovely postcard!

It reminds me of one story. Once, I taught tarot to my friend who was trained as an icon painter.
Can you imagine?
Centuries of tradition (where pigments are made from scratch, and a single line might be backed by a very ancient discussion) — and my “take-this-tell-me-what-you-feel-about-the-colour-blue-please-don’t-lick-the-card-for-now”. As if a child with an overactive imagination and a favourite set of markers leads a workshop for the academy of arts, to be completely honest.

Anastassia was a beautiful young lady, with dark braided hair, extremely kind eyes, and a lazy pet snake Shoosha napping in another room after yet another meal. I asked her, at some point, whether she could recruit Shoosha as a sitter for an Adam-and-Eve scene (as a snake). She told me that snakes were somehow underrepresented in this craft.

(Can a snake be a sitter though? Can they sit even?)

With warmth,
C.
